Here's our little break-down of what to expect for costs, currency, tipping and local taxes.
Canadian dollars are the norm at Panorama. Debit Cards, and major credit cards (namely Visa & Mastercard) are accepted and there is no minimum spend on transactions so you don't need to worry about carrying lots of cash. If you are traveling internationally, your credit card company will enact the exchange rate on the spot.
It is always a good idea to inform your credit card company before you travel, especially if you are travelling from abroad and don't travel very often. To protect you, credit card companies may place a hold if unusual activity is suspected.
If you prefer cash, there are several ATM machines on the resort. If you are exchanging USD, you can visit any of the banks in Invermere.
Prices at Panorama are on par with other Canadian resorts. A burger and fries will cost you around $28 and a pint will cost about $9.
There are always creative ways to keep costs down. All Panorama Condos have full kitchens where you can chef up your own meals. An on-resort small grocery store, or visit to the nearby Invermere Supermarkets will help keep your fridge well stocked.
Tips and service charges are usually not automatically added to a bill. If service is satisfactory, customers generally give service staff and baristas 10% to 20% of the total bill.
Hairdressers, estheticians, and other service specialists, such as snow school coaches, or bike lesson instructors usually receive 20%.
Bellhops and Doormen usually receive a few dollars per item of luggage they assist you with.
British Columbia applies a five percent goods and services tax along with an eight percent provincial sales tax. A two percent tourist tax is also charged on lodging and some goods.
