6 Experiences Not To Miss This Summer

Head for higher ground this summer and make Panorama your base camp for adventure, for relaxation, or a little of both. You’re on mountain time, so however you choose to spend your down days you'll find plenty of moments to reconnect. Here are six experiences that should make your must-do list this summer.

WAKE UP IN THE MOUNTAINS

Staying mountainside means waking up surrounded by the towering Purcell Mountains. Sit back and enjoy the tranquility of early mornings in the mountains, or grab a coffee and your sneakers, and breath in the cool, crisp morning air while strolling the Valley Trail. Lookout stops with benches are located along the 3.5km paved route.

BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL GREYWOLF

Stand in awe of the mountains as you tee off at Greywolf Golf Course. Ranked the #1 public course in British Columbia, Greywolf's dramatic mountain setting, thought provoking design and stunning elevation changes has placed it at the top of many golf bucket lists

Golf just not your thing? Take a stroll on the Valley Trail for stunning views of both the Purcell Mountains and Greywolf Golf Course. Or grab a seat on the patio at Cliffhanger Restaurant and watch the sun set behind the mountains with a cocktail from their well-stocked beverage menu.

HIGH ALPINE EXPLORATION BY ATV

Follow old mining routes as you carefully journey by ATV into alpine ridges and bowls with the team at Toby Creek Adventures. Heading up to their backcountry cabin located 8000ft above sea level takes you into the heart of the high mountains with views of the Purcell's and Canadian Rockies stretching to the horizon. You'll discover the historic remnants of a silver mining town from the 1900s, wildflower meadows, alpine wildlife and a waterfall.

TAKE TO THE WATER

Grab a paddle and explore the variety of waterways that traverse the Columbia Valley. Located 20 minutes below Panorama, Invermere is home to the Columbia River Wetlands. This important wetland system provides a unique habitat for more than 260 recorded bird species, along with numerous fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammal species and countless invertebrates. Columbia River Paddle provides guided canoe tours through the wetlands or you can grab a rental kayak or SUP and go with the flow.

The warm waters and sandy shores of Lake Windermere are perfect for stand up paddle boarding with rentals available from the waters edge or explore the calm, picturesque environment of Lake Lillian, located about halfway between Invermere and the resort.

If you're looking for more water filled adventure, Kootenay River Runners offers both whitewater rafting and float trips. Test your skills in the rapids of Toby Creek directly from the resort, turn up the adrenaline on the Kicking Horse River or for a slower pace enjoy a family float on Kootenay River.

Looking to really kick back and relax? Grab a towel and simply take in the mountain views poolside at the Panorama Springs Pools. Minimal effort required.

FOLLOW THE BEATEN PATH

Head out on the trails by foot or pedal power. Panorama and the Columbia Valley are home to a variety of cycling and hiking networks. You’ll find winding paved pathways, short family friendly adventures, full day alpine explorations, lift accessed downhill riding and endless single track.

If you're looking to get into DH mountain biking, lessons and rentals are offered at the resort for both adults and kids.

REFRESH YOUR SOUL IN THE MOUNTAINS

Whether it is on a guided forest wellness walk, a session of mountain yoga or simply a family stroll to the Hale Hut for a picnic, spending a little down time in nature always rejuvenates the soul.
