We're Welcoming the World's Best in 2022

The FIS Alpine Junior World Ski Championships are coming to Panorama! In March 2022 we will welcome hundreds of top international athletes to the resort for the first time this event has ever been held in Western Canada. It's a big win for us and Canada!

The Junior World Ski Champs are an annual competition for top athletes between 16-20 years of age. It is the most important event in the international Under 21 category amd every year the very best athletes from around the world compete on the slopes of the most prestigious resorts. More than 200 athletes from all Alpine disciplines, plus their coaches, support staff and families are expected to embark on the resort for the week-long competition.

This honour is the culmination of many months of hard work. Back in mid-September we sent a team over to Switzerland to promote the quality of our race and training facilities, and present our proposal for the event. On Friday, November 16, the International Ski Federation (FIS) announced our successful bid, making Panorama the only North American venue to host the Alpine Junior World Ski Championships over the next five years. The last time Canada hosted the event was at Mont Sainte-Anne in 2013.

Steve Paccagnan, President and CEO of Panorama Mountain Resort said the World Championships will be a boost for the Columbia Valley for years to come. “It will bring top athletes from around the globe, showcase the spirit of our mountain community and put the spotlight on what is already a top-class racing and training centre.”

Our bid received strong support from our friends at Alpine Canada Alpin and we look forward to working closely with them as we prepare to welcome the world’s best.
